Our latest update to the Transport Control module introduces a much-requested feature: the ability for requesters to edit transport requests without the need to cancel and resubmit them.

Previously, when a nurse or staff member needed to modify an existing transport request—whether for a patient or equipment—they had to cancel the request entirely and start over. This led to unnecessary delays, increased workload, and disruptions in hospital transport coordination. With our latest feature, authorized users can now edit specific details of an unclaimed or scheduled transport request, making the process smoother and more responsive.

What Can Be Edited?

Requesters now have the flexibility to modify key transport attributes, ensuring real-time updates and better communication across teams. Editable fields include:

✔ Timing: Change whether the request is scheduled for the future or needed immediately.
✔ Phone Extension: Update contact details for easy coordination.
✔ From & To Locations: Adjust pickup and drop-off points as needed.
✔ Isolation Status: Modify the transport request based on infection control requirements.
✔ Notes: Provide additional instructions or clarifications.
✔ Mode of Travel: Specify if the patient requires a wheelchair, stretcher, or other transport methods.
✔ Priority Level: Adjust between Normal and STAT to reflect urgency.
✔ Additional Information Indicators: Update any special conditions that may affect transport.

These updates ensure that any last-minute changes are instantly communicated without requiring a new request, keeping transport teams well-informed and ready to respond.

Who Can Edit a Request?

To maintain security and prevent unauthorized changes, only the original requester of the transport can edit the request. Additionally, a request can only be modified if:

• It has not yet been claimed by a transporter.

• It is still scheduled for the future.

This ensures that real-time updates remain accurate and actionable without disrupting an ongoing transport.
